The History of Tic Tac Toe
Tic Tac Toe is one of the oldest games in human history. Long before computers and neon graphics, people were scratching grids into stone.
Ancient Egypt (1300 BC)
Archaeologists have found game boards roofing tiles in Egypt dating back to 1300 BC that resemble the 3x3 grid we use today.
The Roman Empire: "Terni Lapilli"
The Romans played a version called Terni Lapilli (Three Pebbles at a Time). In this version, the grid was often scratched into the walls or floors of public spaces. However, unlike our modern version, players only had 3 pieces each and had to move them around the board after placing them.
The First Video Game (1952)
Believe it or not, Tic Tac Toe was one of the first computer games ever made. In 1952, A.S. Douglas created OXO for the EDSAC computer at the University of Cambridge. It was designed to prove how computers could interact with humans.
Modern Day
Today, the game is known globally. In the UK, it is "Noughts and Crosses." In the US, "Tic Tac Toe." And now, you are playing the latest evolution: Neon Easy Tic Tac Toe.
